Educational Services for High Schools

“Right now, three-quarters of the fastest-growing occupations require more than a high school diploma. And yet, just over half of our citizens have that level of education. We have one of the highest high school dropout rates of any industrialized nation. And half of the students who begin college never finish”.- President Barack Obama, 2010 State of the Union Speech To Congress

C.A.S. ( College Achievement for Students)

Legacy has developed the first ever 3 level college program of its kind. Many schools and organizations help students get into college but fail to provide the much needed support throughout their freshman and sophomore years. Almost 45% of students who graduate high school and enter college eventually lose the steam and motivation to continue and drop out of college. Furthermore, many new college students lack guidance once in college to properly manage time, jobs, and their personal life. Many make simple mistakes that cause what should be a rewarding experience of college to be a stress that overwhelms many to give up.

“Legacy’s 101,102 and Success Bound year long programs have been created for one purpose, to establish goals and the foundation for successful students,” said Chief Executive Edison A. Bardowell. “We are excited to provide this opportunity to teens, they deserve all the help and guidance possible and this is just one step of many”.

College Prep 101: (grade 10.) “Goals and Staying the Course”

This prep is designed for 10th graders to help them decide on what they want to study and creating goals. Specifically, this prep is designed to provide support so they can stay on track to realizing those goals.
Students are introduced to and enter a group of peers learning of the college process. These groups of students attend outings to area colleges of New York City and are guided through the requirements for acceptance. Once they create their goal schools, throughout that year, students receive one-on one and group counseling on a “stay the course or improve” strength based perspective. Students are mandated to attend tutoring or are required to receive all necessary help to stay on track to enter college successfully and move into College Prep 102.

This program provides :

  • One-on-one and group counseling
  • Eligibility to Summer Employment
  • Attendance monitoring
