Drama & Theater Programs
This after school program enables students to learn the basics and essential skills of Theater and Performance Theater. Students receive direct instruction from aspiring and seasoned equity actors.*
Flag Football League
This is a no-contact flag football league for youth ages 12-20*. Legacy Flag League is open every summer through the fall. Flag football gives participants the chance to learn the basic and play advanced football without the contact. Flag Football practices and games take place at several New York City parks and follow a league schedule.
The Spanish Club
This program provides members age 14- 21* opportunities for community service projects, leadership skills development, enrichment activities within the Hispanic heritage and community. Members also plan school wide events during independence celebrations as well as performances showcasing all aspects of the Hispanic culture.
*Membership in these programs grants eligibility for grants and scholarships provided by Legacy Youth Foundation.
Female Self Defense Course
This new after school program is to motivate and inspire the females to learn a positive attitude and develop self protection in the martial arts. Students learn discipline, respect, following directions, games and more.
Legacy Marching Drumline
One of our most asked for and most exciting programs. Our drumline program beats any other music program with extensive instruction in the techniques of drumming. Members will perform with peers in a full form drumline section of snares, bass drums and quints. If you love the funkiness of southern bands and marching bands in general, this is the program for you. Beginners to experienced musicians will be instructed and comprise a full performing unit. The unit once ready to perform will march in parades in nyc and perform at schools in New York City.
 Step Teams
A favorite activity of many club members, stepping is a form of percussive group dance where the participant's entire body is used as an instrument to create beats and rhythms via a combination of foot-steps, spoken word, and hand claps. This activity, open to ages 14-21, is one of the most fun to watch and even more fun to be part of.

High School After School Programs The average school day runs from 8:00AM-3:15PM, but by 1PM students are already getting restless and the urge to go home is hard to resist. At Legacy we understand this and encourage our students to stay in school through positive involvement and school spirit. Legacy offers a variety of recreational after- school programs like: Chess, Flag Football, Spanish Club, Dance Teams, Step Teams, and DJ Academies. The long day may be hard for some but our programs have been proven to spark the interest of students. Our programs have at times contributed to the improvements in overall attendance in school.
Our Programs:
Legacy works closely with community based organizations and resource providers to assist in providing quality programming for our participants. Programs are operated by the Membership Management and Multi Cultural Affairs offices. Our programs typically run 2:30PM-6:00PM each school day.
Drum & Bugle Corps Program
A drum and bugle corps or drum corps is a musical marching unit (similar to a marching band) consisting of brass instruments, percussion instruments, and color guard. This activity tours in the United States and Canada and performs on-field competitions, parades, festivals and other civic functions. Members are thought how to play trumpet, French horn, trombone, contra bass or the drum corps equivalent. Participants are also thought music theory, marching. This program is open to all youth ages 14–21.*
Legacy provides this program through operating affiliate Network Drum & Bugle Corps.
Dance Team “Hypnotic Effect”
This program started as a small dance group that quickly grew in popularity.”Hypnotic Effect” dance troupe showcases youth performing in contemporary, hip hop, pop & funk dance styles. Open to ages 14-23, members are instructed routines by seasoned dance instructors. Hypnotic Effect dance troop performs yearly at Legacy events and has appeared on MTV, BET and several other TV network channels. Members should have at least one year of previous dance experience to join.*
DJ Academy
Possibly our most popular after- school program ever, DJ Academy allows members to learn something few have mastered. Participants enter a 7 week DJ class designed for participants interested in learning a new hobby. Courses focus on the basics of beat making and the fundamentals. This program comes complete with equipment and vinyl records. Participants who finish their 7 week course can move on to the next level of the academy.
